The Labour Museum was born in 2000 thanks to the activity of a group of friends, passionate collectors of testimonies related to the economy of Valle Sabbia, with a keen interest in handicraft and industrial products.

The building in via Madonna del Convento, which was renovated and made available by the Municipality, has been the permanent seat of the museum since 2008.

In the toponym, it recalls the ancient institution founded by the Capuchin friars in the early 17th Century. Suppressed at the end of the 18th Century, the building was used as a barracks until the end of the Second World War.

The building, recovered in the 70s by the Municipality of Vestone, was renovated and, in the west wing, used to house the museum collection.

A series of temporary exhibitions organized by the association Museo del Lavoro, relating to the various production sectors, has ensured, right from the start, the dissemination of the large collection.

The museum exhibits photographs, historical catalogs that contribute to the knowledge of the local economy and recent evidences of the work in the valley; in particular, objects and tools related to the production of non-ferrous metals, as well as saved evidences of the decommissioning of various industries in Valle Sabbia.

In particular, a series of impressive machineries for processing plastic or for finishing metal pieces, as well as some finished objects and numerous tools.

The museum is divided into several sections:

– the peasant section, where there are forged artifacts, a copy of a mechanical mallet, scales, tools and objects of the agro-forestry-pastoral life, hunting tools, used mainly by the population of the past years as a source of subsistence, as well as showcases with various samples;

– the section of electrical components, applications and equipment of electrical systems, measuring and control instruments, safety and electricity transport instruments, as well as switches, transformers, ringtones, positioned in such a way as to understand the evolution, not only in technology but also in aesthetics;

– the section dedicated to the processing of curry combs that made Promo di Vestone, at the end of the 19th Century, one of the centers of excellence on the international scene: the curry combs of Vestone were in demand in Italy, but also in Austria, France and North Africa. You can see tools and machines for the production of harnesses and a pendulum clock for a bell tower placed on a metal frame, built by the Roncetti workshops in Nozza di Vestone;

– the section dedicated to the craftsmanship of the wheels of wagons and carts, which illustrates the entire production cycle;

– the section dedicated to weaving with a working wooden loom dating back to the early 1900s, sewing machines, carders and defibrators, photography, cinematography (projectors, winders and cameras), telephony devices from various eras, television sets, typewriters and office accessories for computing and terminals (computers);

– the section of mechanics with machines and tools concerning the various metal working (second degree of processing or finishing), connected to another room containing tools, machines and related accessories; construction/carpentry with scaffolding, lifters, old tools, molds and more;

– the wood-technology section with machines and various tools; Oenology: vats, barrels, weighing instruments, ancient containers and machines for bottling drinks; Synthetic resins: there’s a large press (MIR) for molding thermoplastic resins, with operating devices and inherent molds, as well as a press dating back to the 1930s for molding thermosetting materials.

The museum is located in via Madonna del Convento, in the locality of Mocenigo, not far from the “A. Glisenti” secondary school.
