The association “Habitar in Sta Terra” was born with the desire to contribute to the sensitization, the defense and the re-evaluation of the environment of Bagolino under all its characteristics: historical, artistic, cultural and natural. Since the first years of its existence, the association has worked hard to collect materials, tools and furnishings that could represent an authentic testimony of Bagolino’s ethnographic corpus.

Founded in 1994, it is an “archive” of considerable size, which is currently housed in two different locations: the first (in order of time) is located on the ground floor of a building consisting of exhibition halls and a large educational classroom; the second is the recent Casa Museo, located in the heart of the historic center. The latter, owned by the association “Habitar in sta Terra” since 2012, has a dual function of display and exhibitor.
The building had not undergone maintenance interventions for at least fifty years and the internal and external structure shows a coherent example of a typical house of Bagolino.

The museum preserves a series of documents of the local life, dating back, mostly, to the 19th Century. There is a still-working loom and other objects for spinning and weaving, metal tools for agricultural work and mountain pasture.
An interesting environmental reconstruction reproduces the interior of a house, with a fireplace in the living area, equipped for processing milk, and an open mezzanine, which leads to the sleeping area.
You can also find a reconstruction of a school classroom with wooden desks used until the 1960s and, in another section, games and toys of the ancient time.
